The Ninth Circuit found the sellers of web-based software that assisted customers with preparing bankruptcy petitions engaged in the unauthorized practice of law where, among other things, the company held itself out as offering legal expertise including how to take advantage of loopholes in the Bankruptcy Code and provided services comparable to those which a bankruptcy lawyer would provide.
