Attorney Bills Not Automatically Protected from Disclosure by the Attorney-Client Privilege
Slusaw v. Hoffman, 2004 WL 2030095 (Pa. Super. 2004)
Brief Summary
Many attorneys assume that the legal bills and invoices they send to a client are entirely attorney-client privileged communications and, accordingly, are protected from disclosure to third-parties. That is not always the case. Confidential communications contained in bills may be protected by privilege, but the bills and invoices themselves may not be.
